I love your videos, thanks you for the informative lessons. I got a dropped foot due to herniated disc in l4/5 region. I had a microdisektomy a 2 weeks after the initial herniation, which occurred while I was doing piriformis stretches. Its been 4 months since surgery and i still barely have any movement. I go to a chiropractor who performs active release and i do traction 2 times a week. Is there anything else you could recommend me to do to get my dorsiflexion back? Thanks again!

Try doing the “pigeon pose” in yoga. Do it facing a wall so you can push the wall and make your torso point straight up or even back while the rear leg is straight as possible and pointing back. Also, while in the pigeon, open the front leg to a 90 degree angle with the rear leg straight back and tilt your body to the side that your rear leg is on. This really stretches the psoas muscle on the side that your front leg is on.
thx Doc! your videos & clear explanations have enabled me to visualize exactly how to stretch & strengthen the muscles needed to lessen my back pain & degenerative disc disease. I stumbled upon your video while researching a totally unrelated topic on U tube. So glad your video popped up – I’m sharing your site with a LOT of people. Blessings to you for your contributions to public health.
Seriously stop greeting people in your presentation. It’s so annoying and breaks the flow. Just info plse else its a skip over!

motivationaldoc, wait one more…should i place em on my spinal area where i had the surgery, l4/5 region. Or my outer part of tibia and foot?
Again, thank you so much for the advice. I will speak with my chiro about it and get back with you. Stay awesome.
Not sure which unit you have although there are several different EMS units that have Russian stim as one of the modes. You should look into it
Thank you so much for reply! I use an Intelect NMES unit. Is the russian stim different?
Russian stim is very good to help retrain muscles. Speak to your Chiro about that maybe he can recommend a mini unit that you can do at home.
Thanks and greetings from Australia Dr Mandell!
